For the temporary relief of cough and chest congestion due to cold and flu.

Robitussin Cough & Chest Congestion combines the action of the expectorant guaiphenesin and the cough suppressant dextromethorphan. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant that loosens and reduces the thickness of phlegm, making it easier to cough up. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that acts on the cough centre in the brain to suppress a dry cough.

Robitussin Cough & Chest Congestion is a clear, red syrup with mentholated cherry flavour.

Ingredients:
Each 10 ml contains 200 mg of guaiphenesin and 30 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide.

Other ingredients include Glycerol, Sodium Benzoate, Saccharin Sodium, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol Solution (70%) (crystallizing), Allura Red AC, Ethanol, Menthol, Cherry Vanilla 21146 Flavour, Vanilla Bean Flavour 52.089A, 961376 Natural Lemon Flavour No 462924, Cherry Flavour Wild Artificial 119062, 13540488 Artificial Sweet Flavour, Water – Purified.

Contraindications:
Do not use in children under 6 years of age.
Do not take if you have an allergy to any of the listed ingredients.
Do not take if you are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or for 14 days after stopping the MAOI drug.
Do not take if you having an acute asthma attack.

Precautions (check with pharmacist before use if any of the following apply):

  • Asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, any other respiratory (breathing) conditions, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, smoker’s cough or porphyria (a rare blood pigment disorder)
  • For use in children between 6 and 12 years of age
  • If you take any other medicines
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant

Dosage:
Measuring cup included

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml
Children 6 to 12 years: 5 ml

Take every 6 to 8 hours when necessary up to a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours. 

Advice and warnings:
Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you have a chronic cough as this medicine may make your cough worse.
Tell your pharmacist if you have a condition that produces large amounts of mucus as this medicine may make your condition worse.

Side effects: nausea or vomiting, stomach pain/discomfort, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, rash, diarrhoea, fatigue and constipation.
